MCAT versus Student Teaching

Shane has been studying like crazy for the MCAT. He is taking it on May 21st and boy is he working hard! Right this very minute he is up on campus taking a full on practice MCAT. It started at 9AM and goes until 2:30PM. He studies for the MCAT more than his classes. Which is probably the smart thing to do since his prep course cost us more than tuition! He has a stack of notecards that he carries with him everywhere! What a nerd! But really I hope this practice test goes well for him so that he can feel confident in the rest of his preparation.

While Shane does that I am planning lessons (with a little bit of blogging in between). I finished student teaching at Grovecrest Elementary at the end of February. It was really hard to leave those kids. They were such a great class! I miss them so much already! But there was an upside to this halfway point - I turned in my teacher work sample on February 25th and I am done with BYU assignments FOREVER! It felt good to get that 40 page report out of my hands! I started at Forbes Elementary in a 3rd grade class. It has been two weeks already and I am still getting used to the switch. I have much longer hours at this school than the last.

But the semester is coming to a close very quickly! It is creeping up on both Shane and I so fast! We are excited for the semester to finish! Now I'm just trying to find a teaching position for next school year, which is nearly impossible. Oh well, it will all work out. It always does. Here are some pictures of my last class I student taught. They are so goofy. I love them!

  1. I'm glad you got pics of your students! I am surprised that some of the kids I student taught still recognize and remember me when I see them later :) Thanks for the update!
