D-DAY!

Ok not quite. But close. Shane is on his way to take the MCAT as we speak (or should I say write). He has worked so hard and now it all has to be put to the test. He pulled out all of his notecards and piles of books he has been studying since January and said "Now I have to pull all of this information out!" I just laughed. He will do great I am sure. He is so intelligent. He wasn't too nervous until last night. This morning it hit me too, I'm so nervous and I'm not even taking the stupid thing! But everything will work out. I planned a fun afternoon for Shane only he doesn't know it yet. He is coming to visit me at work today after his test since it's practically next door to where I work. He doesn't know it yet but I'm taking the afternoon off and we are going to go up to Salt Lake and play. Pictures to come! We just can't wait for this morning to be over.

1 Year Anniversary!

Shane and I celebrated our one year anniversary on Saturday May 1st! It was a blast! Since we are trying to save as much money as possible right now, we decided we weren't really going to get anything for each other. Shane lied. It was actually about a week before our anniversary, and my parents were planning to come into town. I was at work the day they arrived and Shane stayed home busy cleaning the apartment for when my parents came over. I came home to an amazingly clean apartment and this hung on our wall:

I was always telling Shane that our apartment needed some decoration or something and I had been wanting to hang some of our wedding pictures for awhile. I just had never gotten around to it because our walls are cinderblock so I wasn't sure how to go about doing it. He went and bought three beautiful frames and hung some of our pictures above the couch. The best part was that he did it so that my parents could see them. He is so sweet! He also hung my mirror with a sticky note on it:

When our actually anniversary rolled around, Shane surprised me with tickets to a movie I had been wanting to see. It was even a chick flick! First I made Shane breakfast. We had bacon and eggs, and blueberry muffins! Then we went to the matinee showing and then came home and had a Smallville marathon, a show we both enjoy and found for 10$ a season. Then we went to dinner at Outback Steakhouse. It was delicious! We came back and decided that we should bust out the top of our cake. We had always heard about how gross the cakes are a year later after being in the freezer but we were pleasantly surprise! It was actually REALLY good! We were both too full to eat a lot of it but we still have it in our kitchen.
This is how Shane feels about our marriage!I felt kind of bad because I didn't really get him anything at all. But I still have something up my sleeve. A late gift. But it's a surprise so shhhh! You will hear about that in a future post I'm sure. Anyway, It was a great first anniversary! It was fun to talk about what we were doing one year ago on that day! I am so glad that I met Shane. He is the best and I love him!

Graduation

Shane and I Me with my parents!

Me, looking at the wrong camera!

Me with Laura (My best friend in the program)

I graduated from BYU on April 23rd and it was such a great feeling! My parents came into town for it and I am so glad they did! The night before graduation, they took Shane and I out to eat at Wingers. I love me some wings! The next morning I had to be at the Smith Field House at 7:00 am, of course they would make the education majors wake up that early...
Anyway, the ceremony was good and not as long as everyone was dreading. We took pictures and then went out to eat with family at Golden Corral. It was delicious! Shane's family was there and so were my parents. It was a blast!
Then Shane and I went back to my cousin's house and watched a movie and just spent time together. My parents left the next morning. It was a great weekend! I don't think I have had that relaxed of a weekend since I was 5! It's weird how your body gets so used to starting school again once the fall comes. This fall I will be expecting to go back to school but I won't. I will kind of miss it. Maybe. No but really, BYU has been a great experience. I learned so much throughout my college education and made so many friends. Here's a shout out to all the roommates I had (for listening to my jokes and lame stories), my cohort (for helping me get through the elementary education 3 hour classes with some humor), my family (for supporting me in everything I achieved), and Shane (for being the best husband in the world!) Going to BYU was great! It will be weird not going back in the fall!
